Collecting Birds

Do you ne’er think what wondrous beings these?
Do you ne’er think who made them, and who taught
The dialect they speak, where melodies
Alone are the interpreters of thought?
Whose household words are songs in many keys,
Sweeter than instrument of man e’er caught!

A-Z Archive: M! Mothering

Mothering:

“I will love you forever,

I’ll like you for always,

as long as I’m living,

my Mother you’ll be”

Robert Munsch

Anyone who has read this book has probably not put it down without grabbing a tissue first.  My mom follows her heart each and every day and sometimes that causes her to make tough decisions.  This weekend was a difficult one in which she had to trust her heart that with her help a friend in need will come through the worst of times.  It is hard to trust yourself in these situations when the trust is actually 100% in someone else’s behaviors and actions… your mind doubting what your heart is telling.  I love my mom for her courage and willingness to hold the hand of our dear friend during this time.

As long as I’m living, proud of my mother, I’ll be.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Unusual Heebie Jeebies, 52 Pick Up: 50 steps

22 Mar

Click this one to really see them…

( I do like this photo turned on the side… instead of bugs crawling on a wall, it looks like bugs at the beach)

These unusual  furry little guys have been invading my work space!  It started as one or two tiny little critters at the picnic table where I eat lunch and are now they are giant (relatively) and in the multitudes surrounding doorways, windows, picnic tables and sidewalks!!  ( This is outside my office window… all of the passers through the adjacent door shriek in awe (or disgust.. nonetheless it’s definately shrieking).  I’ve never seen so many of these critters…  I would say there are at least 250 around this one doorway/ window space)…. Time to invest in MothBalls! And to eat lunch in doors to avoid picking them off my sweaters!  Lots of coccoons buried in the crevices of the wall.

Going on vacation so no posting over the weekend, so I had to knock out two challenges with one idea.  🙂

A to Z Archive: L: Lyrical Lake

22 Mar

On this Lazy morn,

Out during Low Light,

Looked through the Lavish Leaves,

Rested against the Lazy Ledge,

Waited for the Lifting fog,

and dreamed into the Lyrical Lake.

Attempting to include some poetry every now and then. Elementary at the start, but hopefully… eventually… I will be able to express what I’m really trying to say!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Contrast: Day 4

15 Mar

Thursday:

“I do not understand how anyone can live without some small place of enchantment to turn to.”_MKR (in this case beautiful Batchewana Bay)

Not sure what possessed me on Monday to do one of these each day this week…  I’m sure you are all tired of hearing from me!.. But staying true to my word… Here’s one for Thursday and in contrast to yesterday… it does not involve Blue!

and as a bonus here’s a photo of my friends taken not too long afterwards.

“A woman has got to love a bad man once or twice in her life, to be thankful for a good one.” MKR (My favorite author these days)

Weekly Photo Challenge: Contrast Day 3

14 Mar

Wednesday:

Field

Contrast: That which stands out is that which gets seen.  This easy mantra can be useful in all aspects of life from leisurely photography to powerful presentations and even wardrobe/accessories. Proper choice of background compared to subject is what it’s all about.  This Contrast project has opened my eyes to where I need to expand in my photography… I have about a zillion which feature green and blue but not very many in any other direction. Must be because most of my photos are sunny days outdoors! Mother nature and I must agree on beauty 😉

A-Z Archive: K: Keenly Knavish

Alligator

Keen: Having a sharp cutting edge or point. Marked by intellectual quickness and acuity. Sharp. Vivid. Strong

Knave: An unprincipled crafty fellow. Deceitful and unreliable scoundrel.

Hard to find inspiration for K… while researching I did fine that in fact, in the whole of the top 1000 most commonly used words in the English language, there are only a total of 9 K words!!  No wonder…

I think he’s smiling and only he knows why!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Contrast Day 2

13 Mar

Tuesday (Two-fer)

“What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness?”_JS

“There are as many nights as days and the one is just as long as the other in a year’s course. Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word “happy” would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.” _CGJ

Posted two today since they were taken minutes apart.  The great thing about sunsets, they are timeless, the untrained eye cannot determine winter spring summer or fall.

Check back Daily..  I think I have enough for a photo each day this week!!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Contrast

Monday:

“Contrast is what makes photography interesting”_Conrad Hall, cinematographer.

My favorite movies are movies that show contrast, in set design, scenery selection, screenplay dialogue, and cast.

Lack of contrast makes a bland occasion.

Check back Daily.. my eye tends to catch a lot of contrast so I think I have enough for a photo each day this week!!

A to Z Archive: J: J…J…J… Jackpot

Triple Jack Jackpot

Triple Jack Jackpot

To see or win a jackpot in your dream suggests that you are too impulsive and relying too much on fate. Alternatively, the dream means that you need to take a chance in life in order to reap the rewards.  (From Dream Dictionary)

However, this photo is proof that this Jackpot wasn’t a dream… In an instant though, the both Dream Dictionary Definitions of Jackpot were spot on for me..shuffling around a bit:

“Being impulsive I took a chance in life and as fate would have it, I reaped the rewards!”

May you all take chances and fate back you up!
